Michael Jackson’s 2002 will has a mistake in it…

TMZ has learned that Michael Jackson’s 2002 will has an error. However, the mistake is not a significant one.

Michael Jackson’s will, dated July 7, 2002, was signed in Los Angeles, but Michael Jackson’s brother Randy Jackson informed TMZ that Michael Jackson was in New York City at that time.

Randy Jackson speculates that someone forged the signature on Michael Jackson’s will. However, the attorney for Michael Jackson’s estate, Howard Weitzman, claims that the signature is genuine and that witnesses observed Michael Jackson give his John Hancock.

Error in Michael Jackson’s Will

TMZ has certified that Michael Jackson signed the will in New York City on July 7, 2002, making the attribution that Michael Jackson’s will was signed in Los Angeles an undeniable error.

Apparently, the individual that indicated “Los Angeles” on Michael Jackson’s will acted as one of the witnesses, and it had slipped their mind that they were on the opposite side of the country.

Oddly enough, this geographical error does invalidate Michael Jackson’s will. However, if the 2002 version of Michael Jackson’s will had been deemed invalid, the 1997 version would have been probated.

1997 Version of Michael Jackson’s Will

Just like the 2002 version of Michael Jackson’s will, the 1997 version creates a trust. TMZ reports that the 1997 trust, identical to the 2002 trust, leaves the same percentage to the same people, outlining that Katherine Jackson gets 40% for her lifetime, Michael Jackson’s kids get 40% and the remaining 20% goes to charity.

One of the executors in the 1997 version of Michael Jackson’s will is none other than John Branca.
