The Thriller dance tribute to Michael Jackson in Mexico City, Mexico was record-breaking!
On August 29th in Mexico City, Mexico, Michael Jackson fans came together from all over the country for a “thrilling” weekend, in honor of Michael Jackson’s 51st birthday.

Two enormous Michael Jackson dance tributes were organized to pay homage to the legendary King of Pop, who graced fans worldwide with marvelous music and mind-blowing theatrical performances. Michael Jackson fans in Mexico City also honored Michael Jackson’s visit to Mexico in 1993.

Dance Tribute to Michael Jackson in Mexico City, Mexico
Michael Jackson fans were asked to show up at the “Monumento a la Revolución”, one of Mexico’s most famous national monuments, to be part of the largest number of people performing Michael Jackson’s “Thriller dance” simultaneously. Another group will attempt to break this record on October 24th.
Over 50,000 people gathered together to watch and participate. The energy and excitement radiated from people of all ages, who had come together to pay tribute to Michael Jackson.
The dance tribute to Michael Jackson commenced at 5:00 p.m., and after six quick rehearsals, Mexico City had broke the record: 13,000 people, dressed from head to toe as zombies, simultaneously dancing Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.”
Both national and international media covered the Michael Jackson dance tribute in Mexico City, Mexico and were witness to the incredible feat achieved by the crowds of dancers.

However, the dancing did not stop after breaking the record. On August 30th, Michael Jackson fans had another chance to pay homage.
A Mexican dance crew organized a “fan mob” that had over 7,500 people coming together at the “Angel de la Independencia,” located on Reforma Avenue. Dressed in their best Michael Jackson outfits, including white sequin gloves and black hats, fans worked together to learn the choreography for “Beat It.”
Then, at 12:00 p.m., over 3,000 people danced in unison facing the civic square, known as “Centro Histórico”. These Michael Jackson fans worked incredibly hard, and it shows!
